Top Music Video Looks of 2020

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

As the wildly unpredictable start to a new decade begins to close out, many of us have pushed to find sources of entertainment within our own homes. These sources may include making whipped coffee, going on socially distanced walks, or, probably the most common, listening to our favorite artists. Despite these “unprecedented times,” musical artists such as Chloe x Halle, Kehlani, and more have been conquering 2020 by releasing new projects for their fans and, even more exciting, the latest music videos to go with them. Now, which artists have managed to keep up the creativity while being stuck at home, you can find out here:

1. Rina Sawayama- “XS”

With the release of her newest album, “SAWAYAMA,” Rina Sawayama, born in Japan and raised in the U.K., uses a very avant-garde makeup look to (over-exaggeratingly) mirror a telemarketer that has found herself as a victim to gross capitalism and excessive greed. The huge 60s/80s/90s and Chanel-inspired yellow tweed outfit just add to the character!

2. Chloe x Halle- “Do It”

The vocally-blessed sister duo, who I’m sure we all thought were twins at one point or another, wear contrasting black and white outfits for their first single off of their sophomore album, “Ungodly Hour.” They also rock matching loc hairstyles and bold, silver eye makeup.

3. Kehlani- "Open (Passionate)"

The Oakland-raised singer released multiple “Quarantine Style” music videos for her newest album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. In this picture, Kehlani rocks a warm makeup look paired with bold earrings from Black business, The Nu Bamboo.

4. SZA- "Hit Different (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)"

Hair: @hairjunkierandy Beauty: Adam Burrell Stylist: Dianne Garcia & Alejandra Hernandez

The singer hasn’t released an album since 2017, leaving many of her fans eager for new music and visuals. Released in September of the year, SZA teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign and The Neptunes to remind everyone why we love her so much. Just look at those beads!

5. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion- "W.A.P"

Hair: @tokyostylez & @kellonderyck Stylist: Kollin Carter & EJ King Beauty: Jenny Bui

No matter how controversial you may find the lyrics, it is no debate on how good the two female rappers look in their unexpected collab! The hairstyles pay homage to the iconic movie, B.A.P.S. In this photo, the two are matching in Nicolas Jebran outfits.
